Alex Willcox collection now available online

The Willcox collection is now available to view on the African Rock Art Digital Archive.
Willcox, who was born in Devon, England became interested in rock art after moving to South Africa. He was fascinated by the bushman paintings in the Cathkin area and soon began documenting the numerous sites in the area.
After retiring he dedicated all his time to photographing rock art and published several books including: Rock Paintings of the Drakensberg, The Rock Art of South Africa and The Drakensberg Bushmen and Their Art.
He was well respected in the archeology community and in 1972 was president of the South African Archaeological Society.
