Digitisation progress
From 2002 to 2004, the lab digitised the Rock Art Research Institute’s collections, comprising:
- The Herald Pager collection (148 images)
- The Helen Tongue collection (268 images)
- The Henri Breuil collection (867 images)
- The Corona Thornycroft collection (206 images)
- The Clarence van Riet Lowe collection (338 images)
- And over 50,000 slides, tracings and redrawings from its main working collection

From 2005 to 2008, the lab digitised:
- The Analysis of Rock Art of Lesotho (ARAL) collection (34,850 images)
- The Iziko Museums of Cape Town collection (9,000 images)
- The Natal Museum, Pietermaritzburg collection (26,366 images)
- The National Museum, Bloemfontein collection (18,552 images)
- The University of Cape Town collection (7,051 images)
- The University of South Africa collection (148 images)
- The Rock Art Research Institute, University of the Witwatersrand collection (50,000 images)
- The Janette Deacon private collection (5,729 images)
- The Albany Museum, Grahamstown collection (822 images)
